Intentional Volunteer: Helping Others While Helping Your Career

 

Giving back.  Many of us are concerned about how best to accomplish this. 

 

You may be thinking about being a volunteer, advisor, board member or financial supporter for a cause you care about.  If so, our panel will help you do the following:

 

  • Define what your intentions are and what you want to accomplish - for a cause, for an organization and for yourself.  You’ll be encouraged to think big!

  • Identify a specific organization where there’s a good fit.  It may be one you’ve supported forever, or one that expands your horizons. You may even choose to start a new not-for-profit.

  • Find a role where your contribution will be valued and will build value for yourself.  This may leverage existing skills or build new ones.

  • Use the knowledge, talent and connections you gain to further your career.

Our panelists are coaches and senior executives of major not-for-profits.  They have many useful insights to share and will be happy to take questions.

PANELISTS

 

Kirsten Bunch Founder of the Changemaker Mentorship: Helping Executives and Entrepreneurs Give Back. Ms. Bunch has over twenty years experience creating and funding community programs. Ms. Bunch created the The Changemaker Program, helping women entrepreneurs and executives go from giving to charity to changing the world. She has raised money and designed social change programs in ten countries.

Camille Emeagwali: Vice President of Programs for the New York Women’s Foundation. For over fifteen years, Ms. Emeagwali has provided technical assistance, skills building training to community organizations in the areas of organizational development and program sustainability. Masters in Nonprofit Management from the New School and an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland.

Paul N. Samuels: Director and President of The Legal Action Center. For over three decades, Mr. Samuels has guided the Legal Action Center to address social and criminal justice legal and policy issues. Mr. Samuels has served on many national and state advisory groups and is the recipient of numerous awards. He completed his undergraduate degree at Harvard and is a graduate of Columbia law school.

Kathryn Wankel: Executive Coach and Talent Consultant. Ms. Wankel has over twenty-five years of experience as an executive coach and team facilitator. She has coached several hundred top domestic and international Fortune 500 diverse leaders in seventeen countries and five continents. Ms. Wankel has coached nonprofit executives and has served as a board member and volunteer for several nonprofit organizations.
